GLASMUSEUM WERTHEIM - Follow the HEART - Follow the HEART and discover the material glass

GLASS has always had a decisive influence on our everyday lives and quality of life. Its development from the former luxury glass of antiquity to today's indispensable material(s) for science, medicine and industry is vividly conveyed in two municipal buildings of the Glass Museum. Visitors are cordially invited to take a journey through the 3000-year history of glass and discover the HEART of glass as a material. Symbolized by the crystal-like faceted HEART, the 21 HEART themes convey the many facets of glass as a material.

30 glass play stations such as the flea microscope, the bottle devil or the love barometer are waiting to be tried out and played with. The museum glassblower lets the hot glass flow and invites you to blow glass balls. In the glass museum store you can buy replicas of historical glasses, modern glass objects or enchanting glass jewelry. The highlight is the nationally renowned Christmas exhibition with a large Christmas bazaar, the "Historical Christmas Tree Decoration Collection" (from 1830 - today) and real Christmas trees from the period every year from 1 Advent to 6 January.

Glass museum receives COUNTY AWARD

The surprise was great when on October 20 in the district office Tauberbischofsheim District Administrator Christoph Schauder awarded the GLASMUSEUM WERTHEIM e. V. with the first prize of the district honorary award. Heike Baumann accepted the glass sculpture with a certificate of honor and the prize money of € 2,000.
"The County Honor Award is an award for active and voluntary work in associations and organizations with cultural, sporting, social, ecclesiastical or other charitable objectives. For the award in 2021, it was agreed that the Landkreisehrenpreis should be awarded to private museums in the Main-Tauber-Kreis." (Excerpt from the letter of the Tauberbischofsheim District Office dated 10.11.2020). A total of 15 museums have applied. The other award winners are: Tauberfränkisches Landschaftsmuseum in Tauberbischofsheim (2nd place), Fingerhutmuseum in Creglingen (3rd place), Taubertäler Dorfmuseum in Weikersheim (4th place) and the Pfeiferstube in Niklashausen (5th place).

Informative and beautiful museum on the subject of glass. There are lots of interesting things to see and learn about glass on two floors. The second floor is also very interesting for younger visitors, as there is plenty to try out. The adjoining building, where you can marvel at many Christmas exhibits and other things, will keep you busy for a good two hours. On the first floor, there are lots of beautiful glassware for sale in the store and if you can, you should see the art and work of the glassblower live, you can even try it out for yourself. The entrance fee for two adults was €14 and is perfectly ok.
